Dr. Karen Coleman Dina, D.C.

 

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Colorado, and Palmer College of Chiropractic West, and an honors student in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University, Dr. Karen Dina has also extensively studied advanced nutrition and nutritional biochemistry. A raw food vegan since 1987, Dr. Dina has been a staff member at the Hippocrates Health Institute, a staff chiropractor at fasting retreat, True North Health Center, and a teacher at Bastyr University. He is the founder and co-owner of Vitality Health Center in San Rafael, CA, where he conducts raw food retreats, and offers chiropractic, massage and nutritional counseling.

Dr. Graham, a world-class athletic trainer and respected lecturer, is an animal rights and environmental activist who has been a raw vegan for over 25 years. He is the author of Grain Damage and Nutrition and Athletic Performance, among other works.

 

Barry Horton

 

Chef Barry Horton has a passion for food, family, and continuous education. Barry graduated at the top of his class from Western Culinary Institute, a Le Cordon Bleu program, in 2004. He started at the Stanford Inn as an intern and rising to head chef, adapting his classical French culinary training to vegetarian cookery. Barry understands that a chemical-free, locally-grown, plant-based diet is optimal for a long, sound healthy life. As an educator, Barry helps to evoke creativity in his staff, and encourages them to add to the restaurant’s menu. He was once told by a culinary instructor “Never trust a skinny chef.” but this has proven to be false. Barry feels that the instructor should have used “always trust a healthy chef.” He believes that a vegetarian diet is the key to mental, emotional, and physical healing. Viktoras Kulvinskas

 

Often called the "Father of the Living Foods Movement", Viktoras has been a pillar of the raw community for more than 40 years. Co-founder with Dr. Ann Wigmore of The Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, and author of the seminal work Survival into the 21st Century, which has been one of the most influential books in the movement, Viktoras brings a beautiful spirit to all of his projects.

 

Dan Ladermann

 

Dan is co-director of Living Light International, president of The Institute for Vibrant Living and a co-creator with Cherie Soria of Raw World, the bi-annual raw-fooders' dream event in Costa Rica. Dan has been devoted to creating events that promote the raw/vegan lifestyle internationally. He is also a certified Hippocrates Health Educator and graduate of Anthony Robbins' Mastery University.

 

Sergei Boutenko

 

A raw foodist for 13 years, Sergei is co-author of the books, Raw Family and Eating Without Heating. Sergei is a raw food chef who has taught classes all over the world. He co-produced the award winning movie, Interview With Sergei Boutenko. Sergei lives in Ashland, OR and is an avid hiker, biker, runner, and student of capoeira.

 

Barbara and John Stephens-Lewallen

 

Barbara ("Babs") and her husband John, have a sustainable seaweed harvesting company, Mendocino Sea Vegetables, and were instrumental in helping to form the Mendocino Sea Vegetable Alliance, which sponsored the First Annual Pacific Seaweed Wildcrafter's Convivium that took place in Philo, CA in March of 2006 and brought together chefs and experts on sustainable wild seaweed hand-harvesting of edibles from the sea.

 

Paul Nison

 

Since being diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 20, Paul has pursued many paths to health. When he discovered the benefits of a raw food diet, he was cured of his affliction, and has since traveled the world to help others find the keys to health. His unique teaching is based on personal experience, research, and on his study of the scriptures of Christianity, and combines a humble style with science, humor, and a bold message of hope for everyone from children to seniors. Paul is the author of The Raw Life and Raw Knowledge I & II.

 

David Ross

 

David Ross is co-owner of the World School of Massage and Holistic Healing Arts. Asante Holistic Health Center and Day Spas, and The Creator Network. He has professional backgrounds in business, psychology, theology, education, and healthcare. David teaches courses and seminars on attraction and manifestation in three primary subject areas: entrepreneurship, holistic health, and personal transformation.

 

Cherie Soria

 

Cherie Soria is the founder and director of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute and the author of Angel Foods: Healthy Recipes for Heavenly Bodies. She has been teaching vegetarian culinary arts for more than 30 years and gourmet raw vegan cuisine since 1992. Cherie has personally trained many of the world's top raw food chefs and instructors and is often referred to as the mother of gourmet raw vegan cuisine.

 

Ronnie and Minh Skurow

 

Ronnie and Minh are husband and wife raw food teachers whose DVD Going Raw has just been released. Ronnie is an Essene minister, and Minh is a second generation raw & living food chef, born in Viet Nam into a humble and loving Buddhist family. As a child, Minh began learning about plants and how to find food and medicine in the jungle.

 

Jeff Stanford

 

Since the age of 18 Jeff has been reading Krishnamuti’s talks and practicing “active meditation.” He finds that mindfulness in the kitchen is a key to personal growth. In the kitchen, we confront our beliefs and habits and discover that we can go beyond these limiting structures to affect our own destiny and that of the planet. In the kitchen, each of us has the power to create change through intentionality. Jeff’s early work was in anthropology, religion, and the human potential movement of the early 1970’s. As a dowser, Jeff works with human energy systems, and he is an ordained minister in the Universal Church of the Master, an early offshoot of Theosophy. He and his wife Joan became innkeepers when they moved to the West Coast. Stanford Inn adopted green practices in the early 1980s, including sustainable organics, composting, using responsible building materials, and auditing their electrical consumption. Their vegetarian restaurant, The Ravens opened in 1996. Jeff is an ethical vegan who believes that a vegan lifestyle opens a door to revelatory experience.

 

Elena Tonetti

 

Elena Tonetti-Vladimirova, the creator of "Birth As We Know It" was one of the leaders of Conscious Birth Movement in Russia in the eighties. In her film Birth As We Know It she shares her experience of living in birthcamps at the Black Sea, where women gave birth in warm shallow lagoons in the presence of wild dolphins. Elena teaches classes on healing birth trauma and personal empowerment around the world.

Retired Vice President of Global Information Technology from Proctor and Gamble, Larry is a philanthropist, photographer, and Mendocino County resident who teaches classes in business, financial planning and personnel management for the local Chamber of Commerce, and has worked with over 200 different businesses on the northern California coast.

Don Weaver has been a 100% raw-foodist for over 25 years and is considered by many to be the world's foremost advocate of soil remineralization. Living Light Chef graduate Dorit of Serenity Spaces, founder of the Raw Film Festival of Hollywood will facilitate our mini film festival at this year’s Expo. A classically trained chef, Vinnette earned her culinary arts degree from the Culinary Institute of America and is also a graduate of the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, where she now teaches a variety of classes. Vinnette has two culinary passions, vegetarian cuisine and culinary education. A chef for over 25 years, she is currently Executive Chef of the Raw Food Underground and teaches culinary arts for the Palm Beach school district in Florida.

Petra Schulte is a recognized nutrition educator and raw food chef. She teaches nutrition education at the Fort Bragg Middle and High School and coordinates the statewide, federally funded Harvest of the Month program, which allows teachers to introduce a new fruit or vegetable every month to their students.
